Building a Whitehat Virtual Real Estate Empire

May 6th, 2009 by Eric Giguere Leave a reply »

As I mentioned not too long ago, I’m returning this blog to its original purpose as a purveyor of AdSense help and information. My laptop problems have distracted me as of late, but I can finally move forward with a new series of posts.

I’m calling this series “Building a Whitehat Virtual Real Estate Empire”. Essentially, it’s about building your own network of low-maintenance, totally legitimate AdSense sites.

I’m sure you’ve heard the term virtual real estate — VRE for short — before, it’s certainly not my invention. The “empire” bit is perhaps an overstatement, but it sure sounds good. All VRE empires are based on the creation of multiple monetized niche sites.

I want to emphasize that I’m only going to be discussing legitimate, above-the-board methods in this series. If you’re interested in “blackhat” methods, best search elsewhere.

The Whitehat VRE Empire Series

Here is the complete series so far, the list will be updated as I post them:

  1. Whitehat VRE Empire: Preliminaries
  2. Whitehat VRE Empire: Why Multiple Sites Make Sense
  3. Whitehat VRE Empire: The First Site
  4. Whitehat VRE Empire: Building The First Site
  5. Whitehat VRE Empire: Creating the First Site’s Content
  6. Whitehat VRE Empire: Deploying the First Site
  7. Whitehat VRE Empire: Publicizing the First Site (coming soon)

Please bookmark this page so you can easily access all parts of this series.

Resources and Additional Reading

As well, you may be interested in one or more of these products to help you build your whitehat VRE empire:

The resources above are all optional. You need a hosting service, of course, and you have to pay for domain registrations, but you can build your AdSense network without using commercial products or paid services. At some point you may want to “outsource” some of the work, however, and some of those resources may be useful.

You may also want to read the following:

Remember, though, there’s a point of diminishing returns when it comes to reading about making money online — if you don’t act on what you learn, you won’t make any money.

Try to follow along with what I do. Learn and profit from experience, not from being a couch potato.

That’s great, Eric. Looking forward to your posts on AdSense. I have about 25 sites and need all the help I can get to make money with them. Thanks so much.

  2. Steve says:

Wasn’t this whole whitehat vs blackhat thing something Google dreamed up to dictate what site owners do and do not do. And there really is no clear set of rules outside what some people think Google penalizes sites for?

  3. I’ll stay tuned, I’m always looking for good info on whitehat seo.

  4. I am looking forward to this! I am planning to build 200 Adsense sites and the more information I get the better. I hope you talk about link building and why Google drop links after a while and ways to manage many sites.
Hope you get a new laptop soon.

I’m looking forward to this series. I know you can make more money with affiliate sales and such, but most of my Internet income (small as it has been) has come from AdSense. I need to learn to do it right.

    Hey Eric,

Today i found your blog and I have to say, that its really interesting.
Im looking forward to your further updates.

  7. Good stuff Eric. Some good quality info on making money with Adsense would be quite timely given the avalanche of fake blogs (flogs) out there at the moment promising $5k a month ‘posting links on Google’ which are nothing more than hidden forced continuity scams for worthless outdated basic info.

Well, I hope I can live up to everyone’s expectations! It’ll be interesting to see how this goes… nothing like doing a live case study…

    Eric

  9. Its good that you are going to post some good white hat methods looking forward to read them

  10. I use Adsense on 2 of my real estate sites and they convert far better than any others I have, plus the fact that each click is worth more…

  11. I am interested to watch the progress of your case study. We have never gotten too involved in this type of scenario and I always thought it wasn’t the best route to take but I would love to be proved wrong and learn something new.

  12. Dave Starr says:

I’m in, Eric, thanks. To thiose who are on the cusp, let me add a vote to just “do it” and see what happens. So much better thna sitting on the sidelines and reading about what others are doing.

I am also going to blog my own efforts in trying to follow Eric’s experiment here … I can vouch for Eric’s products, I own an dhave used several of them, and I can also vouch that you can start a site and have it earning a few dollars a day from AdSense for certain … I already have my own small stable producing. Don’t read something else or buy something else, just do something now, take action, it will work.

  13. Eric Giguere says:

Hey Dave, it will be interesting to see what you have to say as you follow along… Let me know when you get started, I’ll add a link to it from this page.

    Eric

  14. Chesh says:

Hey Eric! This looks really cool! Can’t wait to see how it develops! BTW, any thoughts on how AdSense Cloaking would figure into this?

  15. Mike says:

I dunno I have about twenty or so auto niche blogs and I don’t make much a day, maybe 2 bucks on a good. Traffic is just so hard to get nowadays and I only do well if they appear on the first page or two of google and that’s very rare.

  16. Eric Giguere says:

Mike, the problem is that they’re “auto”… you need real, human-generated content…
