The Holy Grail is found!

One of my favorite reads as website designer is the free online magazine A List Apart, whose content is also available as a feed for easy integration with Bloglines and other RSS readers. A List Apart describes itself as “for people who make websites”, but it's not just for uber-geeks, many of its articles are of interest to all levels of webmasters (that's you, by the way, in case you didn't know!).

The latest issue in particular has this great article called In Search of the Holy Grail that is very relevant to AdSense publishers looking to design clean, three-column, SEO- and AdSense-friendly web pages using cascading style sheets (CSS). I did something similar when I created the Invisible Fence Guide, but this technique is much simpler and much cleaner. What I especially likes is that it puts the center column content — you know, the important stuff that Google's crawlers need to analyze — at the top of the HTML page, not after the side columns. Matthew Levine's code is almost perfect and definitely worth a close look. I'll probably write about this more once I start using it.

Eric Giguere is the AdSense expert who wrote Make Easy Money with Google and the new e-book Uncommon AdSense.
