Technocrapi might be a better name
It's Monday, so time for a rant.
Like many bloggers, I register my blogs with Technorati. Only I think they need a new name. How does Technocrapi (rhymes with “crappy”) sound to you?
So, yes, I suppose Technorati and ilk have been doing a decent enough job fighting splogs. I just wish they'd answer their support emails.
Let's see, as of today Technocrapi Technorati thinks that Make Easy Money with Google and AdSense hasn't been updated in 124 days. Geez, but I write new stuff (some of it pretty meaty) almost every day.
Frankly, I've always found Technocrapi's Technorati's link counting algorithms a bit off. Look at this screen capture I just took:

So one part of Technocrapi Technorati thinks I have 2201 links to the blog, another thinks it's actually 2646. I bet the ranking would improve significantly if the latter figure was used. I suppose a higher ranking would stroke my ego (I like to think this is one of the premiere independent AdSense blogs), but more importantly the geek in me doesn't like the discrepancy.
I'm thinking that all that needs to happen is to have someone at Technocrapi Technorati go and twiddle with some flag somewhere. Or send me an email and tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Sure, there's a handy-dandy contact form you can fill out, but apparently it's just for show. I bet the email it generates gets forwarded to /dev/nul (think “black hole” for the non-geeks) after they send you back a canned response saying that they're too overwhelmed to look at your email now, but rest assured that when pigs fly and hell freezes over (oops, I guess that already happened) they'll get back to you. If they think it's worth getting back to you.
Look, you've got my email address. If your crawlers don't like my blog for some reason, send me a damn email. Or flag it somehow on my account page, just like Google Sitemaps does.
If you know anyone at Technocrapi Technocrati, feel free to point them to this blog entry.

Eric Giguere wrote Make Easy Money with Google, which is not the spammy get-rich book you might think it is, and is about to release (finally) Uncommon AdSense, a book aimed at more experienced AdSense publishers. And no, it won't be overpriced.
