Tag And Ping Reviews, anyone?
So the great Tag And Ping push is about to start. I've started getting emails about it from the various Internet marketing lists I'm on, and I'm expecting more as the launch time (noon today) approaches. This PDF file (free from this site) does a pretty good job at explaining the underlying concepts. Which I already explained a couple of days ago, but you might find it interesting anyhow.
As you know, I'm a bit of a skeptic when it comes to this stuff. The whole “blog and ping” system worked for a while, but was soon discredited. I'd imagine that “tag and ping” will run into the same problems: if they sell too many of these systems, enough people will actually start implementing the system that the social bookmarking sites will have to implement counter-measures to prevent them from being carpet-bombed by all the “taggers and pingers” out there. (But it is a percentages game… many, maybe most, of the people who buy these kinds of systems don't actually end up following them… which means they can sell a lot of them without necessarily skewing things too badly… and then it's on to the next system…)
If I get my hands on one of these, I'll post a detailed review. They claim, of course, that it's perfect for AdSense publishers, so of course it interests me from that viewpoint…
