Remembrance Day

Just a quick note. Today is Remembrance Day (Veteran's Day in the US), the day when we remember those who sacrificed themselves in the service of their countries. Despite what you may think about the countries, politicians, and circumstances that sent those people into danger, you can still honor them for the sacrifices they made, and this is the day to remember who they were.

No, there's no direct link to AdSense here except to say that their sacrifices are what made a world where things like the Internet, the World Wide Web, and AdSense are possible. And to hope that great conflicts like World War I never come to pass again.

In Flanders Fields — by John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
