Redscowl Bluesingsky (or it is Bluesingsky Redscowl?) revisited

This is off-topic again, but sort of interesting. Much to my surprise, my redscowl bluesingsky page (formally titled “Redscowl Bluesingsky” or “Redscowl-Bluesingsky?”) has made it to #25 on Google, at least at Google's BigDaddy data center (try it). I was hoping just to break into the top 100, but to show up on the third page has made me revise my goal, so now I'm trying to break into the top 10. That's going to be tough competition, let me tell you, but let's see what happens…

Actually, this is related to AdSense in some way. What this contest has shown is that short-term placement of pages is really a matter of simple SEO (search engine optimization) techniques, not anything fancy like getting a high PageRank in Google. This is why systems like Traffic Equalizer and AdSense Empire work, because their pages rank highly quickly for profitable keyword combinations. Eventually, they get booted out or banned, but for a few weeks or months they can draw traffic and make money from the ads. At least in the current system.

Look at the top-ranked entries for the “redscowl bluesingsky” contest. They're not doing anything too fancy, just good use of titles, headings, links, and URLs/domains. The rules of the contest stipulate that it has to be a new domain, so no one can benefit simply by slapping a “redscowl bluesingsky” page on a site with a high PageRank. (This doesn't stop you from linking to it from such a site, though — I've happily linked to my redscowl bluesingsky page from a PR6 page I have.) Since I had recently created CluelessAbout.com, it was the perfect spot for the page. And so there it is. It took about a week after I created the page for it to show up in Google's results, but it did (it was in MSN and Yahoo faster, of course) and now it's time to make it climb even more…
