One Page A Day Challenge
AdSense publishers live and die by their content. I’ve been a bit delinquent myself lately over not creating enough new content for my sites, so I thought I’d challenge myself.
For the month of February, my challenge is to create at least one page of new content each day. And to give the challenge some teeth, I’ll document the results here. I’d also like to open up the “One Page A Day” challenge to you, my readers, by offering prizes to those who take up the gauntlet.
OPAD Rules
The rules for the One Page A Day (OPAD) challenge are simple: you must create one page of new content for each day in February. Since 2008 is a leap year, that’s 29 pages of content.
A “page of content” is defined as at least 200 words of new content: a web page, a blog post, an article, or even a comment. If you use PLR content, you have to substantially rewrite it, otherwise it’s not much of a challenge.
To entice you to participate in this challenge along with me, I’m offering a free copy of Uncommon AdSense to everyone who successfully completes the challenge. One of the winners will also win a copy of PLRSiteBuilder. There are additional restrictions to win a prize, however:
- You have to register with me by leaving a comment on this blog entry. You have until February 8 to register, since I realize not everyone reads this blog on a daily basis.
- You must create at least 29 pages of new content throughout the month, even if you register late. In theory, you could do it all on February 29th, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I’d prefer to see content done one a steady, daily (or nearly so) basis.
- Each page of content you create must be public so that I (and others) can verify that you’re actually creating content. (If it’s an article, you’ll need to post a link to it after it’s been submitted to a directory and approved by the directory, which may take a few days.)
- Each day in February I will post an “OPAD Day XX” post on this blog. You must add a comment to each of these posts linking to one of your new pages of content.
- If you succeed in creating the appropriate pieces of content, send me an email by March 10. I will verify that you created content for each day of the challenge and linked to it from the appropriate posts.
Please note that I reserve the right to remove links and/or comments that are spam and/or that violate AdSense policies and/or are otherwise questionable. All decisions in this challenge are mine alone. This challenge is null and void where prohibited by law. Winners will be announced on March 15.
I realize this is a lot of work, which is why I’m giving prizes to everyone who finishes. There’s an additional benefit, however: links from my blog do not use “nofollow”, so you’ll get a PR boost for any links you submit here. I’m hoping all of this makes it worth your while. Plus you’ll have all that great new content to attract visitors!
I have no idea if anyone will take me up on this challenge, but I’ll be doing it myself. Start thinking about your content now!

I accept the challenge! This comes at a good time for me, because I also want to write at least one article a day through February (and half of March) and so your site will help motivate me. I am creating new websites (with the help of your wonderful PLRStieBuilder product) and need to submit articles to link back. I don’t know if I can create 29 new websites, but I will create 29 articles anyway. Thanks for the contest!
This may be the caffeine talking but I’ll take up the challenge! I’ve been neglecting my website (www.BrendanMcPhillips.com) and this is the kind of thing I need to get me moving. Deadlines and structure get a bad rap but they work for me, hey, journalists and authors use them effectively everyday.
Eric, I’ve been a longtime reader/lurker of MEMWG and I enjoy it very much.
Happy Writing,
Brendan
P.S. Skellie is adding some useful how-to-write posts over at ProBlogger that may be useful for those of us taking up the challenge.
One question. If we already have a copy of Uncommon AdSense (like through the recent PLRSiteBuilder promotion) do we get a different freebie?
Hey, I’ll do it. Sounds like a fun group project. I tend to create content in spurts rather than gradually.
Couple of questions to clarify… by content do you mean text or can it be photos, video, etc… any minimum amount of text, etc?
Also, should the pages be on a single website, can it be on any website, or just websites that I own?
I must be out of my mind. I accept the challenge! Deadlines work for me, too. I have the same question…multiple sites???
Eric, your is one of the FEW things in my inbox that I read religiously.
Molly
Great, it’s good to see that I won’t be the only one doing this!
Rich: You definitely don’t have to create 29 sites, although if you do I think you’re well on the way to building your AdSense empire!
Brendan: Thanks for the kind words. And, yes, deadlines are great motivators.
Colin: Yes, if you already have the book then I’ll arrange another prize with you. Maybe a signed copy of one of my book? Or some of the products I have with giveaway rights.
Peter: I was thinking more text, but I’m OK with other kinds of content. I know videos actually take a lot of work to create. The content can go anywhere — one site, multiple sites, whatever. It just has to be public. You could contribute a lengthy essay to the Wikipedia. Or make a fabulous comment (like Chuck Brown’s been known to do here).
Molly: Same answer…
Eric
Eric,
I’m game! I already had a plan to post daily, so this will serve as extra motivation.
I’m not going to type anymore… need to save words.
Keith
Count me in, Eric!
This is a wonderful way to motive people to create content. Hopefully, this 29-day challenge will become a habit for more bloggers.

Wow, it’s great to see so many people taking up the challenge! It won’t be anywhere near the number that Darren Rowse gets when he posts a group writing project, but it should still be pretty good! I’ve got my first day’s content planned already, now I just have to go and write it….
OK, I’m in.
Eric Giguere, I love your writing style and honest reviews. It’s like a friend is writing to me. Now it’s my turn to join in on the fun. I just started a website talking about making money on the internet. I’ll take your challenge and no doubt this will benefit all of us.

Good luck to all. Fun contest!

Count me in and thanks for the push. I’ve been working on getting this blog going and a challenge like this perfect.
One more question. I’ll definitely write the posts in February — new posts — and link to them. But can I date some of the posts in the past? For example, I went on a three-week trek in the Himalayas last September. I have a lot of notes, but I haven’t written any posts yet. If I write them, I’d like to date them when things happened and not now when I’m writing. Is it OK?
Linda, as long as the content is new I don’t care when it’s dated. Just leave a note to remind us it’s new when you link to it here.
Great idea Eric! I’m in. This will be a great motivator to put content on my blog.
Deb
P.S. I too already own Uncommon Adsense…
Hi Eric!
I’m rising to the challenge! This is something that I’ve been wanting to do, so your offer comes right on time…thanks!
Great idea Eric!
By luck of timing, I started doing my first 30-day trial on my blog. Since Steve Pavlina got his 30-day trial of eating raw foods just wrapped up, and I decided to get off my butt and do my own trials to start growing.
So, my first was to begin keeping a Journal and posting at least once entry from each day to my blog.
So, I’m experiencing the benefit of setting a goal and sticking to it, journalling every day, posting to my blog every day for a full MONTH, and I’m certain traffic will go up at least a little bit.
Count me IN!
I’m in – this is a great way to wake-up and start to write regularly again. I’ve had too long break of writing, but maybe it will start from here again. Unfortenately I write with my native language – finnish – so propably you won’t understand a word, but I can tell you that it will be good and unique content.

Hi and thanks for the challenge. It’s exactly what I need! I’ve been meaning to write one-a-day. But now it offers me the push to stick with it!!
Thanks,

Why not join, It sounds like a good way to get my new blog up and running and make me accountable.
Thanks Eric
I’ll participate. I just left a comment on Day 1. Thanks!
Oh dear, almost missed day one, but I’m in!
I’m going to take this opportunity to pick up slack on my blogs, write content on a website that hasn’t had new content in almost 4 years (but is doing better than ever with AdSense), launch a new blog that I’ve written about a dozen articles for over the last 2 years, and finally I’m going to try out Eric’s new PLRSiteBuilder software which I just bought.
It will be a mish-mash from me, but looking forward to it.
Eric,
I may hate myself for doing this by the end of the month, but I’m goint to take you up on this. The last month or so I’ve been slipping with the number of posts I’ve written. Hopefully your challenge will get me back on track.
Since this is day 2, I’m already behind but will post twice somewhere during the month and catch up.
My Article Number 2 Could Your Senior Get Help From The Floor? has been approved & posted at ezinearticles.
Eric,
Just the kick up the behind I needed.
I suddenly feel fired up so thanks for the opportunity.
I’m going to try doing this as well.
It is a good idea! Thanks!
Great idea, I’m down.
I’m a little behind, but I think I can make it up.

I hope I am not too late to join in the challenge Eric.
I have just put up a Brand new Blog, on a brand new domain. So it should be interesting to see how things develop on it over the course of the next month.
Thanks Eric,
All the best
