Getting your AdSense traffic naturally

One of the best ways to get traffic is through natural, spontaneous linking from other sites. This is not news, of course, but a lot of AdSense publishers forget about it in their quest for traffic.

For example, my sister tripled the average daily traffic yesterday at her baby stroller advice site thanks to a glowing recommendation from BloggingBaby. It wasn't an advertisement, just a natural recommendation. Her site can only benefit from the link, especially since BloggingBaby's main page has a PageRank of 7.

Of course, these links may be spontaneous, but the people doing the linking still have to find your site/blog in the first place. You have to be prepared to do some publicity, but you don't have to go around asking for links.

If you have a blog, though, good content posted on a regular basis is a great way to get some links. Yesterday John Battelle, author of the bestseller The Search, mentioned my my most recent posting in his blog. And that's great publicity for my blog no matter how you cut it. Again, totally spontaneous. And very welcome!
