Fill your pages with Google referral buttons
Looks like Google is setting out to own as much of the real estate on your pages as possible. There are now five separate referral buttons available counting the two new ones for Google Pack and Picasa:
- AdSense
- AdWords
- Firefox
- Google Pack (US-based publishers only for now)
- Picasa
I can just see it now: in the left sidebar, a wide AdSense skyscraper; on the right sidebar, a series of referral buttons; on top, a horizontal link unit; in the middle, a big fat large rectangle. Now where do I put my content? Oh yeah, on the bottom of the page. Someone whip up a single-page site that follows this pattern and let me know how it works out…
Remember folks, you can't encourage anyone to click these buttons. Silly rule for a referral program, if you ask me. But I've said that before.
P.S.: Check out my silly Google Suggest Title Generator, a useless but moderately amusing tool.
