Content is the key — and it's not that easy!
I was reading a “blog for money” posting last night that claims you can set up a money-making blog in mere minutes. All you have to is “compile keyword-rich content” and you're pretty much set. Sigh.
Anyone who's written anything worth reading knows that it takes time and effort to create good content. This is why I devote an entire chapter in my book to the topic of finding a topic and writing good content for it. And yes, I suppose you can go around and repost articles and tips that you find elsewhere on the Internet — just watch out for those copyright violations! — but that doesn't make your site stand out from anyone else's. You want original and meaningful content. You want to write it in complete sentences. You want to organize it logically. If it's not interesting and readable, who's going to read it?
It makes more sense to post one good article per week to your site or blog than one crummy article per day. Think long term, quality over quantity. Even if you're blogging a lot, which means you're posting daily and often just commenting on things you've read elsewhere, it makes sense to put your “top quality” content in separate categories and offer separate feeds for them.
Take your time — fame and fortune doesn't happen overnight!
