AdSense Tip #2: Don't be afraid to ask Google

The second AdSense tip on my Google AdSense Tips page, which partly inspired me to write Make Easy Money with Google, is pretty simple: “Don't be afraid to ask questions”. This is an important point. Despite all the automation that makes the AdSense program run so smoothly, there are humans who monitor the AdSense support email aliases and who do indeed answer any questions you might have. If you're ever in doubt of something, ask them a question, they'll get back to you in a day or two. This is especially true for questions about the AdSense program policies or the AdSense terms and conditions: they change every once in a while and sometimes it's hard to keep track of what's allowed and what's not allowed.

Take search page results, for example. Early on, the AdSense rules prevented you from displaying ads on search result pages. I wondered, for example, if I'd be allowed to place AdSense ads on search pages whose results came from using the Google API. The answer I got back was pretty simple:

Hello Eric,
Thanks for your email. You may place AdSense for content ads on pages containing API related search results.

So you see, it certainly doesn't hurt to ask questions. You can also send them suggestions for new features, they seem to appreciate those. Of course, if your idea is really good, you might want to think about creating your own company and getting Google to buy it instead!

By the way, I haven't re-posted AdSense Tip #1 yet, so you won't find it in this blog until later.
