AdSense Niche Ideas (Part 1 of 4)
Internet marketer Abhishek Agarwal has provided me with a list of 400 niche keywords for AdSense that he uses to generate $15K in earnings per month. You can get the entire list (an Excel spreadsheet) by signing up for his list, but I thought it would make some good fodder for discussion here as well. (I won’t present the entire list, so if you want it please subscribe to his mailing list.) I’m splitting the discussion across multiple posts to keep things manageable.
- accounting software
- Several of the niches relate to software that business would be looking to buy, including for example crm software and erp software.
- addiction treatment
- Topics that are embarrassing or controversial are a good bet for the Web, since people feel more comfortable querying Google about them. It would be hard to write good material on this topic, I would think, if you haven’t been through it yourself.
- adjustable rate mortgage
- Ah, mortgages, one of the perennial favorites.
- alaska cruise
- Vacation-related niches are popular, since browsers are looking for information about good deals and places to go. Of course, if you’re considering cruising Alaska then be sure to check out the Alaska ferry news blog.
- anti spam software
- Spam is definitely a problem that people are always looking to solve.
- anti wrinkle cream
- Ah, vanity!
- arizona attorney
- arizona divorce
- arizona health insurance
- arizona insurance
- One way to stand out in an overcrowded niche is to specialize by geographical region. Because various professions are regulated at the state or provincial level, focus on people who search for regulated services in their own region of the country.
- auto warranty
- Hmm… be careful, I think most extended auto warranties are scams.
- big bear cabins
- Now this seems pretty specialized. A bit of Googling and I discovered that Big Bear Lake is a resort community surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest, 100 miles northeast of Los Angeles.
- boat insurance
- Yeah, probably a good idea if you have a boat.
- brochure printing
- What, FedEx Kinko’s isn’t good enough for you?
- business voip
- VOIP stands for “voice over IP”, which is a fancy way of saying “phone system that uses the Internet”. VOIP is still pretty new technology and a lot of people don’t understand it yet.
- california dui attorney
- Throw a rock and you’ll hit one, I think.
- california mesothelioma attorney
- Hey, there’s our high-earning keyword again! I didn’t think California was a hotbed of asbestos claims, though.
- california psychic
- Oh, like they’re hard to find in California. (See “california dui attorney” above.)
- call center outsourcing
- “Hello, my name is Raj… er, Bill…”
- carpet cleaning
- Yeah, good luck with the red wine stains…
- chair lifts
- As the population ages, you’ll probably see more and more searches for these kinds of products.
- chiropractic software
- I hope searchers are looking for software to run their chiropractic practices, not for do-it-yourself chiropractic instructions. “How to do a neck adjustment in three easy steps. First, position yourself carefully in front of the mirror…”
- colorado springs vacation
- Colorado Springs is pretty, I’ll grant you that. Been to a couple of conferences there. Not much else around, though.
- contractor license
- I always recommend hiring licensed contractors, yes.
- cord blood
- I remember we were asked if we wanted to store the blood from the umbilical cord when our daughter was born. You certainly feel guilty when you say “no”, though.
- credit counseling
- Don’t forget about credit counselling, too.
- credit report
- Watch for scams here, too. It shouldn’t cost you anything to get your own credit report.
Yes, I’m trying to have a little fun with these lists, too. And that’s always good advice: find something you’re interested in, don’t just focus on the “big buck” keywords. This might be a good time for you to revisit my High-Paying Keyword Lists series which explains why high-paying keyword lists aren’t as lucrative as you might think.

Eric,
What really shocked me is that Abhishek has to have everyone sign up for his Aweber list. Can’t he just copy the list database over from his previous autoresponder company?
If that’s they way autoresponders work, I may just write my own mail list program. At least I’d have control of my data!
Johnny
AWeber is very picky. Yes, you can import addresses, but they’ll all get sent a confirmation request…. so it’s better to ask everyone individually to re-sign up, otherwise they’ll probably just ignore the confirmation requests…
Eric
Not sure about AWeber, but a few years ago I had a host that got on my case because we weren’t using a double opt-in method on our mailing list.
This could just be a case of following orders on one of the upstream providers. Even big hosts have an upstream provider or two.
I’ve seen cases where spam starts getting sent through a location and when the network admin finds out he just cuts off all traffic through their routers from that source. I know if I was in business I’d hate for that to happen to me so the best thing is to make sure the people using your service are not spamming anyone.
I would think if AWeber violated the terms of their network provider they would lose their entire business. Best to play it safe and make sure everyone plays by the rules.
